MODEL-AWARE TROUBLESHOOTING

Murray MT100 42 stalls under load

A stall when the blades engage or the mower climbs a grade can be engine, deck, or safety-interlock related. This guide is mapped to mower model MYT4213500 and its 31R5 engine configuration.

!
Make the machine safe firstWork outdoors. Park on level ground, disengage the blades, set the brake, remove the key before touching components, and let hot parts cool. Follow the manufacturer manual. Do not bypass safety switches.

First checks that preserve the evidence

  1. With the key removed, inspect the deck area for packed grass, damaged belts, or a seized pulley—never reach under a supported deck.
  2. Compare unloaded operation with blade engagement and forward travel separately.
  3. Stop immediately for smoke, burning insulation, fuel odor, or violent vibration.
